Service Repair Shop Manual for Ford New Holland 345D 445D 545D Tractor Loader. Seller 100% positive. Ford 550 555 Tractor Backhoe Loader Service Manual Overhaul Exploded Diagrams. Seller 100% positive. Invest in an owners manual for this tractor. They are generally available a reprints of the factory issued ones. Generally UTF ( Universal Tractor Fluid) is fine. Check the spec on the container, looking for Ford Spec M2C134. For engine oil SAE30HD, SAE 10W30 or SAE 10W40 or 15W40 will work depending on the ambient tempertures you operate in.
Ford 601 Workmaster seems to be starving for fuel

| d land | I had a similiar problem with a 641 Work Master. The bad news is I have never figured out the problem. Have rebuilt carb, insulated fuel line, replaced most electrical parts, but still have some difficulty. Good Luck! |

| David Heflin-Twiggs | Have had similar problem with our '62 601 Workmaster. We found that we were getting a lot of dirt and sediment in the gas. Cleaned everything out real good and filter ALL gas put in the tank now. Put on a good gas cap that keeps a vacuum in the system too. Haven't had a problem since. Keep the tank pretty full too since it's a gravity fed system. Good Luck! |
| wendell | We had a 641 Workmaster that alwys had to be run VERY rich to avoid the problem. I think that Ford tried but never could solve the problem. It always had a cloud of black smoke behind it if it was pulling hard. Another caution, in cold weather the gas tank would drain through the carb into the pan!! |
| Jeff | Had the same problem with my '60 641 Workmaster. Sediment in tank caused the filter in the tank (attached to the pepcock valve under the gas tank) to load up. I cleaned out the gas tank, replaced the pepcock filter, and put in an in-line glass gas filter with replaceable screens. Works perfect now and I have not had the problem since. |

| Roby L. Baisden | I have a Ford 601 Workmaster and it runs so good but when I shut it off gas pours from the bottom of the carburetor. I have had three(3)different carbs on this tractor. Could it be the float? Roby |
